尽管依然有很多打打杀杀的场面，但这是香港少有的以爱情和情义为核心来推进故事的“黑帮电影”。刘德华的角色还蛮讨好的，特别是悲剧性的结局。吴倩莲就稍显花瓶，这种爱上黑帮帅哥的女孩大多都是有点斯德哥尔摩综合征的幼稚少女。
